  • Exentia ~

    About the project.

June 2013, in collaboration with the renowed creative agency CARAMEL in Maastricht, Alexey published his first photography project in book form. EXENTIA ~ was inspired by the research he has made on the philosophical theory called Existentialism. The philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre explained in his publications how existence

preceded essence - meaning one was born and had to define one-self later. Exentia ~, a combination of Existentia and Essentia, dealt with the existential questions that influenced Alexey as an individual. In his project he decided to confront some of the more sensitive emotions that have stored deep within himself and has visualized and expressed them through his portraits. The viewer obtained an insight into the emotions he felt through his experiences.

Alexey did not try to answer any of the existential questions. Exentia ~ as he explained "is not a destination but rather a direction or a viewpoint to how I could find the peace of mind and balance I seek by understanding what matters most to myself. "

    Netherlands-Russia Year 2013

2013 was the Netherlands-Russia Year (NLRF 2013), a year in which the Netherlands and Russia emphasized their long bilateral relations. The Netherlands offered an ambitious programme in Russia and vice versa with a variety of economic, cultural and societal activities during the second half of 2013.

The exposition EXENTIA ~ became part of The Netherlands-Russia Year 2013 and was showcased in the city of Maastricht in the prestigious commercial centre ENTRE DEUX.

The grand opening took place on the 3rd of August 2013 and immediately received positive reviews in local newspapers and magazines. Alexey states "it was an incredible moment when all the pieces of the project came together. It was absolutely worth it to bring this project to life".

The exhibition was very well visited and with high sales of the EXENTIA ~ book being achieved during the exhibition days.
